what are we doing?

Look at this picture. It makes me so sad, and angry. Here's a PR event. Some pointless launch, or whatever . There's a little boy, on the red carpet, looking like a little boy.
And there's a little girl. I think. Is she ten, maybe eleven? Her gold lamé baby doll dress manages to look like it would on a nineteen year old, instead of just looking like a child's dress on a child- pseudo innocent sexy, despite the fact that she's got no breasts yet.
Her heavy make up, sprayed hair, and the gold heels - she's already got the red carpet stance of the Jimmy Choo wearing starlet.
All this exploitation - toddler make up ranges, spa days for pre teen parties... that little girl should be dressing up in her mums heels and lipstick, then going out and climbing trees in some boots or runners, not wearing gold strappies of her own. Like something out of a Thai brothel.
God, I'm enraged by this this morning!

oh that is sick.
it nearly looks photoshopped, like they cut out a nineteen year old and shrunk her to the size of the little boy! it's just weird!
when i was that age (eighties in germany) there were no heeled shoes available for kids, it was generally believed that wearing heels while you're still growing is bad for the development of muscles and bones, and your posture.

Well of course it is! Anyone an see that, surely?

yup, pretty bad alright.

Still, don't little girls always want to dress up like their mothers?

Child looks like she already has an eating disorder.

See it here as well with some of the kids entered for Irish Dancing competitions.

Looking at the picture some more Jo - even the little Boy isn't right - look at te posing and the fake smile - he's also like a little grown-up posing for the camera.

I don't know, he just looks awkward to me, and he's doing what he's told - it just proves he's not a natural at it, thank god.

What gets to me is that it's clearly a special treat that they get to be there,at this artificial, moronic, adult occaision, worthy of all the adult primping and preening. Like it's something to aspire to.

The whole thing leaves a bad taste in the mouth. I watched "Britains got talent" and saw troupes of dancing girls under 10 all made up like this. It merely panders to the sick out there. Why as a parent would you tolerate this?

More importantly, why as a parent would you encourage it...

the dancing troup reminds me of the film 'donnie darko', the younger sister is in a group like that and they do all the sexy moves...
