snow and feckery

We went out. It was sunny and lovely. And then I came back and got the ancient sled. Despite cracks and bits missing it's still very effective.

I love the snow.. Took lovely photos... somehow the camera screen is broken though. Out of nowhere. Why? Did I stand on it? Must have.

But despite all the lovely, my daughter who won't put on warm clothees got cold, and because she'd refused to put on gloves, her hands started to hurt. So she ran up to the door ahead of us and started screaming, and I had no sympathy. So we get in the door, she runs upstairs screaming abuse and screaming, Bodhi starts screaming too, I think because he wants to stay out...

For Fuck's Sake, people. Why?

Anyway. All is calm again, for now. So look at the lovely pictures.

Olivia found holly

End of the lane

Our road, all pretty

Aw, little gnome shadows

Aw, small gnome in sled

Oh, just some random children...

So apparently there's more to come Sunday. And no school STILL on monday.

Snow does make everything look prettier. We get none so everything is just brown and dead looking, no cover of icing to hide it.

ah..lovely pictures..i would say some nice about snow if there wouldnt come a blizzard tomorrow to us and we all sink in snow..:-/

Thank god you got the silver polished in time!

Ms Moon, it's actually been a long time since we had any sort of snow in this part of the country. A bit last year, but before that it was years. It's usually just grey and cold and cheerless in January. You live for the cold clear, frosty, blue sky days.

Schools ordered shut until next Thursday now. . . .

That's bad about the camera.
They never close the schools over here.

D - well, yeah.

Mwa, see when there's half an inch of snow here, the country grinds to a halt. For example, within a couple days, the council ran out of grit. So no one is salting the roads... and everyone's struggling around and falling over. I'd say the shops are deserted, losing so much more in a climate where things were already bad. But no, we can cope with nothing! It eveng gets bad in heavy rain, and we have that ALL the time :)

Hi Jo, you made me laugh about Olivia going out in the snow and won't wrap up. Our 6 year old refuses point blank to wear a vest, a coat, a hat or gloves or anything to keep himself warm. He is usually barefoot and we have pictures of him barefoot in the snow of last year! But yesterday there were tears from the cold and he had to be rescued from his walk with Daddy as he nearly froze. And what will he do today with the fresh snow added to the frozen stuff. Exactly the same refusal...... Enjoy the beauty..

What IS it with them, Annah? Will he wear other clothes at all? She went to school in just runners, no socks, all through the last freezing winter. She won't let me buy aproper coat and for some reason, I can't find last year's. Sigh.

I would never wear coats, gloves, scarves, etc, at that age (and it got worse when I was a teenager). I still hate wearing those things, but now I've worked out that there is a basic minimum without which my fingers will fall off.

I know it's fine... she hasn't got pneumonia yet... it's when the consequences wreck everyone else's day and she makes us go home because she's cold... or when her tiny pink nosed brother insists he hates his coat... or refuses to wear trousers on a day when the temp is below freezing... that's when it starts to ... rankle? Is that aword?

We have a huge range of coats, and I have an attic full of fleece and an extensive range of hats, scarves, hats that become scarves etc and no chance. As soon as he comes in from school he takes his shoes and socks off and heads out on his bike with just a t shirt and track-suit pants regardless of the weather. I have another son who is the same... And Two sensible ones at least who advertise my business and keep wrapped up.I think we need to stop worrying!

True, Annah... but it's the bitching when she gets cold I'm objecting to. The girl has bitch power!
