illustration

I was just reading Go Fug Yourself, it's funny.

And something that has always bothered me was illustrated.

I've always had trouble with these sort of bodices - baha, not personally, because that would just be ridiculous - but the lowness of the cut, even if it's straight across as opposed to this bra cup look. They always look like someone's standing behind the celeb, pulling down slowly on the top of the dress. I think it makes women look weirdly cut, too long on top, all wrong, yet everyone accepts it as normal .It weirds me out.

And at last - and illustration of what's wrong in the extreme!

Not only does this girl look too young to be out at an award show, in a dress like this, but oh my god, how ruined is her night? Go Fug Yourself suggested that here is why you should always raise your arms above your head and spin around and test your outfit out before you buy it and spend a night stressed out and humiliated to the point of tears... I think this says a lot about how women shouldn't be paraded around in duct tape and heels and support underwear and clothes designed to make them look just about naked too, but, ach, well, we do it to ourselves, it's true, and that's what really hurts...

What scares me is that it's considered perfectly normal for over 80% of the world's women to remove the majority of their body hair. As an act of self acceptance and public defiance, I have given my underarm hair a stay of execution for the last few months.... hmmm... I feel a blog in the making...

You NEVER have any problems like this with overalls. Trust me.

I agree completely, both with your post and with mammydiaries' comment.

I for one don't find clothes that make a woman look awkward or uncomfortable to be sexy, but that's just one man's opinion.

So right, Ms M, so right!

You're an old fashioned man, Craig. From the right era, that is.

mammydiaries - it's strange we accept men's armpit hair but not our own, isn't it? I don't think women's armpit hair looks masculine at all. I still prefer not to have it myself, I must admit, though. I'm happy to keep my pheromones to myself :)

Pubic hair is another matter though, one we've widely discussed elsewhere!

ahhh back in the days when i still was a lifestyel columnist the fuggers where my one and only bible...:))))

i really get bored about the hair no hair thing..as well as the new agressiveness towards peopel who prefer themself shaved...

no one forces anyone to do anything about their bodies..everyone can decide how they wanna keep it...if they get accepted that way is another question...but like i say..no one forces anyone to shave or not to shave or whatever

Nerrrr I don't know, Dan. No one wants to feel villified, or outmoded or whatever. It's hard to fly in the face of fashion sometimes. Perr pressure, blah, blah.

But yes, I agree totally about how nobody should be villified for shaving either. It's gone too far! I wish it was an even playing field, with a 50/50 ratio of hair to bare :)

You know, that dress would be far more flattering if it was an under-boob corset, instead of having those mickey mouse ear things.

Yes on the corset.

About the hair, I do think there's a lot of pressure to shave. Not pubes, fair enough, but anything on show. I haven't just now, and I felt awkward putting my boots on in full sight of some women earlier because they might see. I know I'm not forced physically, but close enough.
