values

So today my daughter got an MP3 player and we went out to a little market thingy, where she got a cookie and a free tennis lesson she enjoyed mightily.

However, she did not get to go to the toyshop to spend her birthday money as her father was playing with his new van, and didn't have the car here, and I had a 2 hour grind to go to.

She was disappointed the day wasn't as good as she'd expected it to be. She's clearly my daughter.

I don't know. I'm torn. I want the kids to have great weekends too, but ... gah, constant entertainment and treats and adventures are a little beyond me right now. Magic beans, I need magic beans...

ah, big expectations! Everything is perfect when you plan it in your head, if you're a child. Not all of it coming true can be devastating... That's just life though.
Do you practice concentrating on the good things with her? It might help? Like one of those gratitude books maybe? I wish I had learned not to dwell on the negative when I was a child...

hear hear..hopefully the weather will improve..seems so much easier to have a cheaper day out if the sun is shining, picnics, parks, etc..even so, you need the magic beans, bought 4 ice cream cones on sunday..a tenner !!

I hope the sun does come, I plan a lot of beach going.

Magic beans - good idea!

(Constant entertainment makes for very spoilt kids - better not beat yourself up about that one.)
