sugar

This looks nice: http://www.organicsoul.com/organic-oatmeal-sour-cream-coffee-cake/

Sigh.

I am considering accepting the fact that I (and, well, no one, really) should not eat sugar anymore. Not often, at least. And this means very little baking. No more cupcake fairy, and cupcake cafe dreams. I'm so sad. But I shouldn't be encouraging people to poison themselves. I know I've talked about this before, but I'm very good at denial. And I love baking. And eating sweet, baked things. The whole situation is depressing. There are sugar substitutes, but most of them aren't good for you either. And, mostly, they just taste ... not worth it. My friend who doesn't eat sugar says she's given up on trying. It's never the same.

I'm going to have to start trying to cook again - at the moment I'm making a Spanish Omlette that isn't going to taste very nice, sadly. Woe is me.

Reasons not to eat sugar

Of course I'm worried about your ovaries, Dan. But how will I say I love you without I love you cookies?? This is what I'm worrying about :)

Catherine, just to let you know, Danielle's in Germany, where incredible chocolate flows from the taps, so he's sensitive to these things.

As for me, I'd recommend a nice Lindt truffle any day.

Isn't agave nectar supposed to be a good for you sugar substitute? Or is that just marketing gobbledegook?

I've just read it isn't, it's highly processed and ... oh, other stuff I can't remember. Also, it leaves an aftertaste and a weird texture.
