Another week til I can see the dentist. This sharp bit of filling in between two teeth is driving me nuts.

And I got a new bite splint that is re aligning my jaw, supposedly for the better but it's causing strange amounts of pain and tenderness and daytime clenching. I had great hopes for it (and have tipped myself into debt for it) but now I don't know - no hope in sight.

I don't make the money I need to deal with this and the other problems I have. How much does head amputation cost? Perhaps that's a more direct solution.

My house and my body are crumbling around me and I can't afford a lightbulb for the hall, let alone a new dishwasher or back treatment or what all it might take to help my jaw. I guess health insurance might pay for jaw surgery. Ugh, I don't want to have jaw surgery. But my mother in law is going to buy us a kettle. Hopefully a €12.99 job as the last expensive and pretty one recently stopped working for no apparent reason.

We've been here 11 years, soon all the appliances are going to hit their built-in self destruct dates. The dishwasher's gone, the washing machine's on the way out, I fear for the fridge. I think I'd somehow assumed we'd be better off by now. HAHAHAHAHAHA! The pathetic optimism and naivety of me...

Ironically I'm writing this instead of working. Back to it. Silver lining - I've just had an 11 pm coffee to try and gain the energy to work - no milk in the fridge, but the cream was still fresh. Hurroo!

I think this post is right but how do you read these things and feel galvanised instead of dismal and hopeless? I wonder if there's a course...

We do the best we can and that is all we can do. I wish your jaw didn't hurt. I wish your appliances could last forever, cheerfully chugging and doing what they were designed to do.

Speaking of which, my angelic mother in law bought us a new kettle. If there's one thing that resonates with her, it's the Need for Tea. It's a cool one too, black, with a big blue light that goes red when it's boiling!

Now I just need Bono to call round with a new dishwasher...
