opinion?

Question: If you have a rare urge that's been building for a while to make something extremely fattening and you need to lose significant amounts of weight, should you indulge or supress it?

I have had two peanut butter cookies in perhaps the last 25 years and I've been thinking about them a lot for the last few weeks.

I gave in and bought peanut butter today. The recipe calls for a cup of peanut butter and half a cup of butter and a cup of sugar, oh my. I suppose I could try doing some healthy substituting...

I think peanut butter is very healthy despite the amount of fat, plus it's delicious!

Yep, I went for it. Did the Joy of Cooking recipe, but it's very sticky - I was hoping for more crispiness.

Do you have a favourite recipe, Aden?

glad you made them!
a friend of mine in high school lost a TON of weight by cooking and then bringing her delicacies into school for everyone else to eat.

You could do that and send them on to us via UPS or DHL service :)

Absolutely no substituting allowed! If you're going to be sinful, don't waste it on a half and half solution. Just make the batch, think mindfully that the first one is always the best, then have two and give the rest away.

Eat the first two and give the rest away... ah, that's just not the way I wobble...

But I did replace the white sugar with Zylitol, and noticed not a bit, so that was good.

zylitol? is that healthy??

Well. It's not a sugar. It's a plant derivative of some sort. And it's good for your teeth, re-hardens the dentine after acidy things.

However, I recently read that it causes osteoparosis in some way, possible leaches calcium or stops its absorption, I don't know. You can't win.

Also, anyone reading, it's deadly for dogs and cats, so use caution with animals around. OH and it's a laxitive, so, you can't eat too much of it.. :D

I bought a jar of smooth recently, only to be told that crunchy is the only tolerable type of peanut butter in this house.

Do you have good cookie recipies I can use up this jar on? Half of it's already due for curry sacrifice next week. :)

I like the smooth, ironically. I say google - cookie recipe is fairly basic, but I'm not hugely impressed with mine. Just flick through all the options til you find one you like the look of.

Curry sounds goood .. Ijust saw a recipe today - http://carnalis.blogspot.com/2010/07/peanut-noodle-salad-supper-for-me.html

I'm with Mwa, no point in doing any substituting at all!

Meh, skinny women. Substitution means being allowed to eat more!

I'm not THAT skinny (90 kilos right now) and I mean it - I'd rather have less of the best thing than more of the slightly less than best thing.
