Today myself and the kids stopped in to Bushy Park on the way back from some shoe shopping (dinosaur Doodles and some leopard print sandals with sequins, no less). The leafy greenness was tempting, and we assumed there must be a playground. There's a lovely playground, it turns out, and logs to climb on. There was a tiny Jack Russell puppy tied up outside, with a red patent leather collar and Poppy spelled out in diamenté capitals.

I used to go there with my family, not living a million miles away. We went with our dog Pippin, an interesting mongrel who reputedly got on a bus on the north side of the city as a stray puppy, and got off it in Rathmines, and got adopted by us. She seemed to have some lurcher blood in her (though she looked extremely dingo like), she ran like a greyhound, and I remember how we used to stand at three points of a huge triangle, and take turns calling her, and she would joyously speed towards us, from one to the next, almost but never hitting us head on. It was a good experience. I don't think I've been back to the park in nearly twenty years, I used to drive past it to work every day, but never actually went there, I don't think. It's lovely, I'd recommend it for a picnic and a play, and it's close to Dundrum as well, really.

Okay. First off- I want leopard print sandals with sequins!
This was such a nice post, Jo. I'm glad you got to play in the park with your kids where you played as a young'un. I loved the dog descriptions.

That's great - & I enjoy taking my son to Kiest Park, where I "wasted" a lot of time hanging out as a teenager!
I appreciate your comment - yes, it's certainly true I'M better off; the conundrum is that my son is NOT... To this day I wonder why my ex coerced me into pregnancy (we'd had two previous losses so I was extremely reluctant) when in effect he already had his foot out the door?
Just another one of life's mysteries - need to go write my own post & quit cluttering up your comments...
