a different approach

Here's an interesting view of a completely alternative culture to ours. Breastfeeding in Mongolia.

I loved that! Love it!

Imagine, eh? Where it's just no issue. Not something to particularly be thought about.

eh

hang on

i'm at the part where she's decribing babies as 2wrapped up" which i'm fine with, iu can picture that etc, but...the next line

"babies aren't changed very often"

that's worrying. wallowing in your own faeces?

Yeah, but it's also Mongolia. I wouldn't say there's a lot of Pampers, out on the Steppes.

I told Lily about this today and she loved the idea, too. I told her about the woman who had expressed milk and left it in the work-refrigerator and how someone stole part of it to drink. She said, "I'd be pissed!" She's still nursing that boy. And he is growing up so fine and healthy.

He really is :)

I don't know whether I'd be pissed off or flattered. Actually, if that happened here, I'd probably drop dead of amazement :)

I asked Bodhi what it tasted like once, and he said, hmmm.... mango!

Fantastic article! I loved reading it.
Hopefully when our baby's born in July, we'll be able to breastfeed as long as possible :-)

Fingers crossed Mick, that you won't end up having to attempt it again :)

You were such a hero with your daughter! I hope it's a lovely smooth ride this time round. x

Thanks. Me too. Even though we only breastfed for about half a year, I can see that Zosia is healthier and more radiant than other babies who weren't. Maybe there's no connection but I like to think that we made her stronger :-)
I really don't understand women who don't breastfeed because they think it's 'easier' not to. There's nothing more covenient than natural feeding. (Those are my wife's words by the way.)
Saves shitloads of money too ;-)

Can't argue with that.

Though I suspect every parent thinks their baby is healthier and more radiant than all the other babies, no matter how they're fed :) and this is proper order :)

Yeah. You're probably right I was just thinking that today. I saw a really, um, average baby today and thought to myself, "I bet his parents think he's gorgeous."
But mine really is ;-)

I know, mine too :)
