beautiful birth

The fact that the father is away at war doesn't get me so much - well, the idea that he's in danger of his life does, of course, I just don't feel so sentimental about war.

But the birth looks so beautiful, the photos are gorgeous. Another showcase for natural, gentle birth. I kept REALLY wanting him to walk into the room, as well :(

Oh man, that made me get goosebumps AND tears.
What an amazing woman, to do it at home, without her husband. KUDOS!! I can't help but wonder why the Dad wasn't allowed home for that?! That's crazy?!
I had a water birth with my little man, and I so want to do it again.Oh I am all clucky and drunk and teary now.

Ha, I know!

You're right, it would be normal to get home for the birth, no? Funds all exhausted, maybe? It's a tough decision, the whole army-family thing.

Hi there. I just found your blog and I am the photographer who took these images for this precious family. Daddy was in active combat and could not come home however he was able to come home on leave 2 months later to meet his son which was so very precious. The fact that we were able to get him at all was a miracle in itself. I am so proud of this mom, she was absolutely my hero that day and this was baby #5! Thank you for sharing the beauty that is birth and birth photography!

Oh, thank you, Jessica, how nice to hear from you! It's a wonderful video. I can't imagine how it must feel to have to stay away from your newborn for so long. Thank god for technology!
