Someone posted a wee story on the extended breastfeeding page on facebook... she was at the zoo, in the farm section. A calf was having a drink of milk. We don't call it 'udder feeding' for some reason, but hey.
So the poster overheard a woman telling her child, 'that's the baby cow getting its bottle'.
For us, this is a laugh or cry situation, I guess, but what really gets to me is that people still furiously insist that they're unaffected by our formula feeding culture and it's all free choice. Well, I think this story suggests otherwise. It's ingrained, and that's powerful. Language is powerful.
