My daughter has just noticed that 'there are no fat women in the tv shows she watches... they all have to be skinny and beautiful. And if they ARE fat, they can't be nice, they have to be strange and creepy like the crazy cat lady.'

I'm glad she can see this, but sad that she has to.

2013 and a female protagonist is an anomaly? Buffy clearly left us all far, far too soon.
